A Generational Wall

Feb 2

Failing retaining walls are common disasters in Central Texas landscapes. Anywhere there is elevation change, a retaining wall is needed. Whether its creating a flower bed to plant native Texas plants in, stabilizing the front yard of your Waco home, or keeping the next massive rainstorm from washing your hillside away, retaining walls are important- and they are disastrous when they fail.

Early in 2026, some prospective clients reached out to us asking if we could build a retaining wall around the front of the new house to keep the soil from washing away from the foundation, as well as creating a level front yard. This couldn’t be just hastily erected block wall that would look good for a couple years- this is the last house they plan to build and they want their grandkids to be able to play here, so the retaining wall needed to last generations- oh, and it needed to look like a natural boulder wall.

Enter a limestone boulder retaining wall, capable of holding the foundation of this Waco home for generations. These walls are not easy. Each boulder has to be artistically picked for its particular place in the wall. Its a giant puzzle, difficult and slow, but worth the reward.

Over the course of a few weeks, we installed roughly 60 tons of stone!

Every detail was taken into account, from a hard packed base to drainage rock and fabric, to the artistic curve of each side of the wall.

Now this Waco family has the yard they wanted, with the retaining wall they wanted, at the home they have dreamed of. Contact us today to see how a boulder retaining wall could be the foundational piece of your dream landscape!
